Why Should I Donate to 7 Wonders in 7 Days?

What is all this about? Why should I donate?

Chi-chi aims to see all 7 new wonders of the world in 7 days, raising £777,000 for 7 charities during a transcontinental super speed dash around the globe.  She sets off on 10th October 2010 (10/10/10).

The 7 charities are:
Alzheimer’s Research Trust, Diabetes UK, Open Doors, Young Minds, British Red Cross, Feed The Minds and The Jessie Ekweozor Memorial Foundation.

The last charity is a foundation her parents are starting in memory of her late grandmother whose death from Alzheimer’s aged 83 inspired the whole trip.  Read more about the inspiration behind 7 Wonders in 7 Days.

What do you get if you sponsor Chi-chi?7wonders in 7 days digitally signed tshirt back

1.    You donate £10

2.    Your signature is printed on the back of the T-shirt she is wearing on the trip, in one of the number 7s!

3.    Your name and a life-time link to your website or blog or Twitter or Facebook profile is added to the Sponsors page.

There will only be 1400 names on the T-shirt so sponsoring her is a limited, once in a lifetime opportunity!

Gain a very valuable link back to your website or blog

For the search engine experts amongst you, Chi-chi did a quick check on the Page Rank of this website and discovered it is a respectable PR4.

Not bad for a site that has been around for just 3 months (as of 27th July 2009).

The link back to your website or blog or Twitter or Facebook profile is a lifetime one, meaning that it will grow in value as the campaign progresses not unlike the Million Dollar Home Page which inspired the idea.

Travel costs of £14,000

On 10th October 2010, herself and one lucky person will be embarking on the trip and she needs to raise £14,000 to pay Trailfinders to manage the super speed dash around the globe.

She is raising money to pay for the travel itinerary for herself and the lucky person joining her through an innovative fundraising t-shirt.  Trailfinders have estimated the trip to cost £7000.  Wanna come?  It could be you.

Would you like to join Chi-chi on the trip? You can.

Chi-chi is tracking the names of everyone who donates and the people that recommended them.  The person who encourages the most people to donate will join her on the trip!

Raising £777,000 for 7 Charities during the trip

Whilst on the trip itself, Chi-chi aims to raise £777,000 for the 7 charities listed above using individual pages for each of the 7 charities on the online donations platform JustGiving.comEvery penny raised during the trip will go directly to each of the charities.

She will be documenting the entire trip on this website and will be engaging with a global audience through the 7wondersin7days account on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Last.fm, MySpace, Friendfeed throughout the journey to raise money and profile for all 7 charities.

Why Such A High Target of £777,000?

She chose to raise £777,000 after being inspired by Major Phil Packer, the paraplegic Iraq war veteran who aimed to raise £1 million by walking the Flora London Marathon back in May.

He succeeded in raising £1.1 million for the soldiers’ charity, Help for Heroes by completing a 30 mile channel row, 14 day marathon and a 4 day mountain climb.  Find out more at the utterly inspiring Philpacker.com.

Will Chi-chi be Carbon-Offsetting the 7 Wonders in 7 Days trip?

Chi-chi is keenly aware that she is travelling tens of thousands of miles by air during the 7 Wonders in 7 Days trip and has made plans to carbon offset the effects of all the carbon dioxide pollution produced by the trip before she sets off in October 2010.  If you have any further questions, please contact her.

Please support Chi-chi by donating £10 to get your signature on the t-shirt she will be wearing during the 7 Wonders in 7 Days trip.
