Competition: Win 2 pairs of tickets to the Southport Flower Show in August

David Bellamy OBE at the Southport Flower Show

As I said yesterday, I was approached by a representative of the Southport Flower Show with some tickets to give away after the 7 Wonders in 7 Days Charity Auction ended last week.

I told her I’d give them away on the 7 Wonders in 7 Days website instead! So here goes.

The Southport Flower Show is the largest independent flower show in the country.

It provides a horticultural hotbed of activity for the beautiful seaside resort of Southport in Merseyside and is held across 34 beautiful acres of Victoria Park.

Here’s a video from last year’s event, featuring the delightful David Bellamy OBE!

It was originally started in 1924 by the local council but since 1986 it has been operated by Southport Flower Show company which is a registered charity.   It is held annually for four days in late August and has attendances of over 80,000.

Patrons of Southport Flower Show include Diarmuid Gavin, David Bellamy, Professor Stefan Buczacki and Roddy Llewellyn.

The Queen Mother was the patroness from 1935 to 1952 and Lady Pilkington was also a patron for a number of years.

Celebrities from showbusiness, horticultural and sporting worlds have opened the show, including Frank Bruno, Thora Hird, Rolf Harris and Alan Titchmarsh.

It happens this year from 20th-23rd August and could be that special something for families wanting a memorable day out in the North West.

Find out more on the Southport Flower Show website.
